​India finished 4th in the overall medal standings at the 2026 Asian Games, delivering a strong campaign that featured multiple landmark victories, national records, and direct Olympic qualifications for Los Angeles 2028.

​Major Highlights & Key Winners:

​Archery (9 Medals – 5 Gold): India swept all three Compound team titles (Men's, Women's, and Mixed Team with Chikitha Taniparthi & Sahil Jadhav). Kumkum Anil Mohod starred in Recurve by winning the Women's Individual Gold as well as team Gold.  

​Team Sports Sweeps:

​Hockey: Both the Men's and Women's hockey teams won Gold, securing direct qualification for the LA 2028 Olympics. (The Women's victory marked their first Asian Games title since 1982).  

​Cricket & Kabaddi: India completed double Gold sweeps across both Men's and Women's events in both Cricket and Kabaddi.  

​Shooting: Key Gold medals were won by Suruchi Singh & Kamaljeet (10m Air Pistol Mixed Team) with an Asian record, Neeru Dhanda (Women's Trap Individual), and Neeru Dhanda alongside Kynan Chenai (Mixed Trap Team).  

​Golf History: Pranavi Urs won India’s first-ever individual Asian Games Gold in women's golf, ending a 24-year drought for an Indian golf title at the Games. She also led the women's team to a Silver medal.  

​Athletics (24 Medals): Athletics yielded the highest number of overall medals for the contingent. The marquee Gold came in the dramatic Women's 4 \times 400\text{m} Relay on the final day. Standouts included Vithya Ramraj (breaking PT Usha's 42-year 400m hurdles record) and Gulveer Singh (multi-medalist across distance events).  

​Historic Firsts & Breakthroughs:

​Weightlifting: Mirabai Chanu bagged Silver (Women's 49kg), India's first weightlifting medal at the Asian Games since 1998.  

​MMA & Rowing: Suchika Tariyal clinched a historic Bronze in MMA's Games debut, while Satnam Singh and Salman Khan took Bronze in Men's Double Sculls.
