Time & Location: The crash occurred around 8:45 AM near the Baramati airport in Pune district.
The Aircraft: Pawar was traveling in a chartered Learjet 45 (registered as VT-SSK) that had departed from Mumbai at approximately 8:10 AM.
The Cause: Preliminary reports suggest the aircraft encountered technical difficulties or poor visibility during its final approach. After an unsuccessful first attempt to land, the plane reportedly veered off the runway and burst into flames during its second attempt.
Casualties:
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and local officials have confirmed there were no survivors. Along with Ajit Pawar, four others were killed:
Two members of his personal staff.
