Sri Lanka elections result: Anura Kumara Dissanayake have become the President of Sri Lanka

Left-leaning Anura Kumara Dissanayake have become the President of Sri Lanka following a historical run-off election on Sunday. 

The National People’s Power chief defeated his closest rival Sajith Premadasa of Samagi Jana Balawegaya for the duration of the second one round of counting. Incumbent president Ranil Wickremesinghe had been eliminated within the first spherical after he didn't emerge as in the top inside the vote list.

Sri Lanka elections declared tenth President of the kingdom of 22 million people commenced at 6 pm.


The Election Commission had ordered 2nd round of counting when no candidate secured over 50% votes needed to be declared the winner of Saturday's election. NASA Astronauts  Sunita Williams &  and Butch Wilmore  Return Safely On  Earth on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 : NASA astronauts Sunita Williams Return Live   to Earth  after nine months in space  on  Tuesday  after spending  greater than nine months on the International Space Station. Their spacecraft, SpaceX’s Dragon Freedom tablet, effectively splashed down off the Florida coast close to Tallahassee, at 5. Fifty seven pm on Tuesday  day at Tuesday at 3:27 am. NASA astronaut Sunita Williams &  fellow Crew-9 members have exited the Dragon capsule. They will be now taken to Houston for rehabilitation programme.
