Karwa Chauth 2025
Even thousands of miles away, couples continue to celebrate this traditional festival with devotion and love. In 2025, Karwa Chauth will be observed on Friday, October 10, and the Moon's position in Taurus makes this year's festival especially auspicious for stability, affection, and prosperity.
Karwa Chauth is specially celebrated mostly within the Northern part of India e. g. Punjab, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh states, where married women observe a day-long fast for the long lives of their husbands. On this auspicious day, many women tend to not have a single drop of water during the entire day. Observed during Krishna Paksha Chaturthi in the Hindu month of Kartik, Karwa Chauth coincides with Sankashti Chaturthi, a fasting day observed for Lord Ganesha. However, in Southern India, the day is observed during the Ashwin month.
Once the moon has risen, women view
it or its mirrored image in water via a sieve. Water is offered to the moon.
The husband takes water from the puja thali and gives it to the spouse to
interrupt the quick. A dinner party is then served to mark the event.
Karwa Chauth is on Friday 10th October, 2025 in India.

As we have heard Pandavas and their
wife Draupadi, mentioning that Arjuna went to the Nilgiris to wish and meditate
for a few days, concerned about his safety of Draupadi sought her brother
Krishna’s assist. He cautioned her to look at a strict fast just like Goddess
Parvati did for her husband Shiva’s safety. Draupadi adhered to it, and shortly
Arjuna returned domestic competently.
On Karwa Chauth, ladies spoil the
quick best after sighting the moon thru a sieve. The day is likewise known as
Karak Chaturthi, and refers back to the earthen pot through which a water
offering, called Argha is made to the moon. Karwa may be very extensive during
Puja and it's also given as daan to the Brahmin or any eligible lady.
The starting place of Karwa
Chauth may be traced returned to Mahabharata whilst Savitri begged Lord Yama,
the god of demise, for her husband’s soul.
Women purchase shringar (adornments),
jewellery and puja items along with lamps puja plates, and henna to apply
mehendi. On the day, girls put on festive clothes like traditional saree or
lehenga. In the night, a network ladies-simplest rite is held. Depending on
vicinity and community, a version of the story of Karwa Chauth is narrated,
with everyday pauses. The storyteller is generally an older woman or a priest
if one is present.
