ENG Vs PAK: England beat Pakistan by two wickets to enter T20 World Cup semifinals:


On February 24, 2026 England edged out Pakistan by 2 wicket at the Pallekele InternationalCricket Stadium in Kandy to become the first team to qualify for the 2026 T20 World Cup semi-finals.


Pakistan faced England in a high-stakes Super 8s clash of the T20 World Cup 2026 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy, Sri Lanka.  

​It was a heartbreak for Pakistan fans as England won by 2 wickets in a final-over thriller, becoming the first team to officially qualify for the semi-finals.  

Shaheen’s Early Blitz: Shaheen Shah Afridi gave Pakistan hope with a sensational opening spell, dismissing Phil Salt (0), Jos Buttler (2), and Jacob Bethell early. He finished with impressive figures of 4/30.  


​Pakistan’s Innings: Sahibzada Farhan top-scored with a gritty 63 off 45 balls. While Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman made starts (25 each), the middle order struggled against Liam Dawson, who took 3/24.

​The Centurion: England captain Harry Brook played a legendary innings, scoring 100 off 51 balls. He became the first captain in history to score a century in a T20 World Cup.  

​Pakistan's Innings: After being put in to bat, Pakistan struggled early. Sahibzada Farhan anchored the innings with a solid 63, but a late-order collapse saw them slide from 122/4 to 149/8. They eventually posted 164, which felt 15–20 runs short.  

​Shaheen's Fire: Shaheen Shah Afridi gave Pakistan hope by taking 4/30, including the wickets of Phil Salt and Jos Buttler in the very first over. He also dismissed Brook right after his century to keep the game alive until the final over.  

​The Finish: With 3 runs needed off the final over, Jofra Archer hit a boundary off Salman Mirza's first ball to seal the win for England.
