  Bollywood's Actor - Dharmendra, dies at 89 Years of Age: Dharmendra, the legendary He-Man of Bollywood, died at 89 in Mumbai. With his six-decade career. He performed countless iconic films &  an enduring legacy, he leaves behind a void that Indian cinema can never fill. Dharmendra Kewal Krishan Deol (8 December 1935 – 24 November 2025), known mononymously as Dharmendra, was an Indian actor, producer and politician, primarily known for his work in Hindi films. Dharmendra was widely considered one of the greatest, most handsome and commercially successful film stars in the history of Indian cinema. In a career spanning 65 years, he worked in over 300 films, holding the record for starring in the highest number of hit films in Hindi cinema.

The Dadasaheb Phalke Award which is India's highest award in field of cinema. It is presented annually at National Film Awards  ceremony by the Directorate of Film Festivals, which is an organisation set up by Ministry of Information & Broadcasting. 

The Dadasaheb Phalke committee incorporates industry legends Asha Bhosle, Hema Malini, Udit Narayan, Poonam Dhillon and TS Nagabharana.

The Dadasaheb Phalke Award Instituted in year 1969 commemorated Phalke's contribution to to Indian cinema & it was first given to 'Devika Rani'.

Asha Parekh  conferred the Dada Saheb Phalke award for year 2020, that is the highest reputation in the field of Indian cinema. 'Asha Parekh, is declared 52nd recipient of 'Dadasaheb Phalke Award'. Southern movie celebrity Rajinikanth became the recipient of last Dadasaheb Phalke award.

Anurag Thakur, Union information and broadcasting minister on Tuesday said that Asha Parekh, seventy nine years , will obtain the award from President, 'Droupadi Murmu' at  68th 'National Film Awards' on 30th September,  years after the Covid-19 pandemic  which was suspended the celebrated event.

Anurag Thakur, Union information and broadcasting minister said, “Honoured to announce that the Dadasaheb Phalke choice jury has determined to realise and award Asha Parekh ji for her exemplary lifetime contribution to Indian cinema,”

“She worked in more approx. 95 movies & became  Chairperson of the Central Board of Film. Asha  Parekh also conferred with Padma Shri in year 1992
